Justice made in the USA, pure theater

Posada Carriles Case
José Pertierra
Today marks 32 years of cold-blooded murder of 73 defenseless people aboard a Cubana airliner on Aviation the waters of Barbados. Thirty-two years of impunity for Luis Posada Carriles, the mastermind behind the sinister act of terrorism that revels in the protection of the White House and he is free on the streets of Miami, despite the overwhelming evidence and the extradition request by Venezuela. Another anniversary

adds to it. Last month the five Cubans in the United States discovered the details of the terrorist campaign led by Posada Carriles against Cuba marked 10 years of unjust detention in high security prisons. The Five had infiltrated the Miami network and accumulated the necessary evidence for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, for its acronym in English) arrest the perpetrators of the bombings in Havana in 1997. The Cuban government provided the evidence to the FBI, but instead of arresting the terrorists, the September 12, 1998 the Federal Bureau arrested the five.

drawn in this dark fable in Washington, the Cuban Five are spies, Luis Posada Carriles is a patriot, and Venezuela belongs, along with Cuba, the axis of evil . Is an incoherent reversal of reality. The White House draws a lying fable with the brush of the prosecutor.

Manipulated and inappropriately politicized, prosecutors have forgotten that their primary duty is to do justice. The Justice Department itself concluded a week ago that the Attorney General illegally fired various prosecutors in a purge in 2006, because they refused to follow the policy of his superiors. The cases of the Cuban Five and Posada are the other side of the coin: here loyal prosecutors about the orders White House betray justice, manipulate the legal process and imprison the innocent while they protect the guilty.

The reality is that there is no evidence of espionage against the Five, and there is abundant evidence of terrorism against Posada. The conductor that the CIA has declassified Posada Carriles say he anticipated the Agency in Caracas a month before the bombing: "We will hit a Cuban airliner." Of course, Washington did not warn Cuba or Venezuela of the next act of terrorism. The two perpetrators, Hernán Ricardo and Freddy Lugo, confessed. Ricardo admitted that his boss was Luis Posada Carriles, and had received $ 25 000 for fly the plane. The calculation is 342.47 dollars for each life cut short.

The Five were tried in Miami. Without evidence they had tried to obtain secret government information, a court in Miami convicted three of them for conspiracy to commit espionage. Gerardo Hernández received a double life, he also charged with one count of conspiracy to commit murder, even though the prosecution itself asked to withdraw the charge for lack of evidence. Antonio Guerrero and Ramon Labanino were sentenced to life imprisonment. Fernando Gonzalez received 19 years René González 15. Miami is so biased against the Cuban revolution only there can a court to convict without evidence of five innocent people.

the prosecution and the judge know that and so vigorously opposed a change of venue. That's the main point of defense in the coming days will ask the Supreme Court to review. Meanwhile, the Five remain unjustly imprisoned and Posada free.

The terrorist does not remain quietly in Miami. Urges its followers, in public, to raise "the edge of the machete" against Cuba. The authorities, of course, do not prevent these calls to violence.

to hinder the extradition to Venezuela, U.S. prosecutors indicted by a liar. Not a murderer or terrorist. The legal strategy is to mount a theater to avoid the 73 outstanding murder charges in Caracas. Prosecutors know that if the court convicted of immigration fraud, the maximum sentence that the judge can impose is 12 months in prison. Since Posada was detained 18 months earlier, the government could not imprison.

favorite terrorist is the White House. The CIA trained him, led him, paid him and now protects it.

In his speech two weeks ago before the General Assembly of the United Nations, President George W. Bush said that no cause can justify taking the lives of innocent people, and that civilized nations should not protect terrorists.

However, Washington's actions are inconsistent with the president's words. A war against terrorism can not escape the letter . There are no good terrorists and bad terrorists.

By neglecting the request for extradition of Luis Posada Carriles, Washington violates international law: its extradition treaty with Venezuela, the Convention on Terrorist Acts against Civil Aviation, and UN resolution 1373 which prohibits a nation harboring terrorists.

condemning the Cuban Five in Miami without any evidence, the U.S. violates its own Constitution and civil rights of these people. For his courageous fight against terrorism, the Cuban Five deserve to be decorated, not condemned. For his cowardly history of terrorism, Posada deserves to be extradited and prosecuted, not protected.

Venezuela will not rest in this fight until the United States release the Cuban Five. Until they extradite Posada to Caracas. Until they respect international law. Until they respect the national sovereignty of other countries. Until termination of their philosophy of exploitation, war and terror. Until the end of this theater wicked.
