honors 300 killed in the bombing of

The port of Alicante was the last of the Republicans who sailed off after a bloody war in those days and won by Franco's troops. But it was also the scene of bloody episodes like that which took place less than a year before the end of the war when the bombing of the Central Market Italian aircraft killed more than 300 civilian casualties. Yesterday, the Civic Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory and the Platform for Citizen Initiatives carried out in the back of the Central Market a tribute to those who died on May 25, 1938, calling for the installation of a memorial. The attempt to rehabilitate the rebels against the legitimate government and the need for monuments to honor those who were persecuted for defending

The Civic Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory is Alicante One of the objectives and principles to honor all citizens who fought for freedom, democracy, constitution and the legitimate Government of the Republic instituted in 1931.

From this perspective, in connection with the rehabilitation and construction of monuments to remember the events of the civil war and during the dictatorship, we make public our position for general information:

1) express our most emphatic rejection rehabilitation, by the Municipal Government of Alicante, the monument dedicated to the group of Phalangists, from the Vega Baja, 19 July 1936, sought to support the military coup and assault Benalúa provincial prison, in order to release José Antonio Primo de Rivera, leader of the English Falange, who had been transferred to this prison. This group of 61 rebels were arrested in Agua Amarga by law enforcement officials, commanded by Captain Rubio Eduardo Funes. Obviously these seditious citizens are not part of those whose memory claimed the Civic Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory, and therefore we can not fail to proclaim our displeasure at the fact that public funds are appropriate for the reconstruction of a monument exalted actions that should never have happened.

Nor would seem acceptable, under any circumstances, the possible placement of a plaque in memory of all who perished as a result of the uprising and subsequent war, as would compromise the character of the monument, to include as defenders of the Republic along with those who fought it.

2) The Civic Commission, for more than four years is suing the authorities for the construction of various monuments commemorating the memory more democratic in the city of Alicante, namely:

- Installation Puerto de Alicante in a work of Eusebio Sempere in memory of those Republicans were caught up in this place in the last days of March 1939. Providing equity capital for this facility, obtained thanks to the contributions of over 100 works of important artists. The port authority has not responded to our requests.

- We have proposed the municipal government of Alicante building a memorial in the so called Campo de los Almendros, for which we have the relevant project, which we were obliged to return a grant from the ministry of the presidency Government, for lack of municipal government approval.

- We have also presented the Alicante Town Hall project - the result of a design competition, whose jury was chaired by Mario Candela, who had represented the City ", to install in your local market, a memorial to remember the more than three hundred victims of the bombing civilians Italian Fascist aviation, at the orders of Franco, which took place on May 25, 1938.

We note, in relation to the two monuments requested the City Council of Alicante, and on which construction has the power, so far, there is, in turn, a commitment to the construction of any of them, or, Of course, the due date for completion, although these memorials if they have a clear character of tribute and remembrance for those who advocated a democratic regime, no doubt, the precursor of our freedoms.

Finally, we mean that, in our view, the opposition to the restoration of the monument to the Falange as our demand for memorials dedicated to the Republicans are included within the spirit and letter of the law known as recovery historical memory.

CALL TO ACT IN TRIBUTE TO VICTIMS LGBTI OF FASCISM

Once again, the Alicante town comes together to commemorate the end of a dream, the end of the utopia of a Spain that opened the world embracing the power of culture, armed with the pen and the writers, extolled in songs of freedom and fraternity. The end of the dream of the Second English Republic, a symbol of freedom and democracy.

One year we gathered at the esplanade of the port to honor the victims of fascist repression, those found along our coast the last bastion of hope to those who with tears went into exile carrying in his heart the memory of those men and women who died defending freedom against the coup of the dictator Franco, carrying in his heart to his land, a land that was sown hatred and repression bayonets, shooting at night, walks toward death.

For the first time in history, in this special year commemorating the 70 anniversary of the end of the fratricidal Civil War in our port, last invaded by intolerance, Provincial Associations of Lesbian, Gay, , Bisexual and Transgender we want to join in this tribute making visible even today the pain is killing us our longed García Lorca, Cernuda's exile and Miguel de Molina, Albert Gil's exile and many, many other citizens. The pain that produces the internal exile of silent voices, the suppression of the prison for men and women who love their peers were subjected to ridicule, were taken prisoners, were the heavy boots of the thieves of freedom subjected our country for over 40 years of fear. The pain caused the laws of "vagrancy" and "social dangerousness" the victims, despite the progress, even today feel in their hearts the shame and damage that deserve not to be forgotten.

We do it with a contrite heart and full of memories in the form of books, voices, texts, poems or drawings on yellow pages, by the passage of time, those victims gave us the hope of a Spain for everyone. We do it from the happiness that makes us live in a plural Spain, a Spain in Equality. And we do our gratitude to those countries that shelter to victims of repression, who extended their arms to welcome the citizens and had to leave their land as they hung on the weight of death or imprisoned for their ideas, for their love.

I do from the outrage at those who want to erase that part of history, that history common still dare to deny those who should be ashamed for denying the legitimate right to honor the victims of intolerance.

We do this because we consider fair and accurate than among men and women who deserve our recognition memory also gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals, transgenders, transvestites, who along with each and every dreamy of freedom fought, died, were exiled or fled from the yoke of death that accounted for all the fascist dictatorship and all citizens and inhabitants of the English state.

associations from the different movements you want LGBTI call to come to act next March 29 organized by the Civic Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory in the esplanade of the port of Alicante at 11:30 am. I call on everyone, young and old, to men and women who suffered repression, those and those who know the history of books, those and those you emocionáis with the verses of "Poet in New York" or Alberti remembering words, or reading to Max Aub. We invite you to accompany us to the LGBTI movement to bear our tribute in the form of flowers against forgetting to fill the color of the plurality LGBTI from now we can defend freedom raising the rainbow flag and for all and all those who can not do now, that they could not do then. And for those still out of fear they do today under pressure from the fear that causes a formal heterocentrist, which is a form of repression that still suffer and suffer and that is the legacy of that past intolerance of gray, not that past we forget, that past that we have to push with greater force to unite and work to erase the traces of this stolen the years, traces of the silent complicity.

Press Conference 23/03/2009 The almond without memory

The Civic Committee has been a change of position Castedo about historical memory
The market project that recalls the bombing of Alicante during the War Civil could be a reality on 25 May this year due to change of position of the City of Alicante, according to members of the Civic Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory.
EFE The briefs in charge of the Civic Commission, Elena Albajar, has been hopeful today during the presentation of the International Conference for the recovery of historical memory that will be held from 27-29 March that the three planned projects go forward in Alicante.

"For 70 years after the end of the civil war there will be nothing, but hope that when we commemorate the 75 years are the three projects, "he stated before adding that they have" a little more hope "in the achievement of the memorials.
Market Project, funded by the council of the capital, won the public tender unanimously recalled Luis Pesquera, a member of the Civic Commission for whom the goal is to make Alicante "a democratic, memory of that period."
In this sense, Pesquera has compared the project with "certain reactionary movements that can be seen for example in the Castellón County Council, "referring to the publication of a book on the Civil War that" denies coup 1936 military ".
Action in the Central Market plans to install in the ground floor of the nine aluminum plates that represent the nine planes bombed Alicante, with 90 black dots each of the bombs dropped on city \u200b\u200band killed more than 300 Alicante.
Additionally, labels will have about 300 holes filled with fiber optic terminals, each afternoon will glow red for 10 minutes to commemorate those killed in the bombing.
The second action, which Albajar calling it a "flagship project" is a sculpture by Eusebio Sempere to Alicante represents "a bird in flight undertaking" and that would be between the port and the Esplanade, which will become a monument "very urban" and "closer to the people of Alicante."
The Civic Commission relied on to take up this project, which symbolizes the exile of thousands of Republicans from the port of Alicante, which was stopped because of an ordinance of the board of port works, intended to avoid " works like this, "ordinance that has now changed.
Finally, aim to build a memorial at Camp de los Almendros, where thousands of Republicans were locked behind the end of the war, "which is the memorial that we want and we will fight until the end" in the words of Albajar.
The project provides for the recovery of the field of almond trees that had grown in that area, and the construction of an "austere" concrete bench to sit dyed purple and red.
have lamented the delay in the construction of the project caused by the refusal City, which has resulted in the loss of the grant total by the Prime Minister of Spain with an amount of 30,000 euros.
On the other hand, the Civic Committee members have expressed their intention propose to create a research and documentation of Franco and Franco's repression in the concentration camp that was in the town of racer.

Bb Guns Metal Golden Desert Eagle Uk

When I read many years The death of hope , the testimony of the excellent book War of Spain of which he is author and journalist libertarian writer Eduardo de Guzman (1908-1991) I remember the incidents followed the second part was particularly moved. Guzman narrates the last days of March 1939 in the port of Alicante, where thousands of Republicans, once missed the chance to escape by boat of the Franco regime, were arrested and interned in the concentration camp of Los Almendros by rebel troops. The emotion of this reading comes from one of my most deeply rooted childhood nightmares, by the way also another evacuation, this consummate itself, which took place on the quays of Musel of Gijon in the fall of 1937. My children paid dearly indiscretion me aware of those events to hear more clandestine talks for adults, because the fun afternoons spent fishing in the harbor at night usually followed afterwords dream full of anxieties. Nothing seemed more unfortunate to imagine hundreds of children and adolescents, which will then be called Children of War in Mexico or Moscow, separating from their parents with tears and hugs, while the flames of the fuel tanks of the city, bombed by Franco's army, lent these dramatic scenes of ghostly background morning.
remained ahead so much war and was still feasible to put a date not too far back to a family reunion, which eventually would take too long or never performed. Inmates confined in Almendros had no expectations that the captivity or death, because the war had ended with his defeat. Suffered from all the evidence was recreated in the novel Campo de los Almendros , written by Max Aub and not a few critics as one of the best, if not the best of those published in exile (Mexico, 1968 .) Elaborating on the days of despair and panic experienced in the port of Alicante, which gives reference Guzmán testimonial in his book, complete with magnificent Aub prose unfortunate perspective that points to the last page The death of hope when the journalist and anarchist writer describes the suicide of those who can not or will not overcome the sorrow and disappointment the defeat: " A moment of silent contemplation. Then we walked slowly toward the exit. Camino mechanically, without even seeing where floor. Before me I see the soldiers that lie ahead. I think the illusions vanished, the example of those who fell in the long run. Someone whispered to me: 'Soon will envy the dead. "Seat without words. It is the first of April 1939. The war is over! ."
almost five years ago that the Alicante Civic Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory has referred to the city council, ruled by the Popular Party, the request to erect a memorial to remember the tragic end of the war and those who suffered repression under Franco in the concentration camp and other facilities of the city on such tough conditions, according to the poet Marcos Ana, encourage prisoners to eat flowers and tender stems of the extreme precariousness food and water. In November 2004 established the municipal commission for that the matter was under study. Two years later, in view of such a commission that showed no sign of activity, applicants claimed a parcel of public land in Los Almendros to locate the appropriate memorial there. Even received a grant from central government to this effect, the subsidy expired in March without the demand of the Civic Commission was attended by the City.
On 3 February, coinciding with 70 years for the brutal mousetrap that about 14,000 people accounted for the port of Alicante, many of them significant in the struggle for the legitimate and constitutional arrangements of the Second Republic, the Commission Civic of that city presented a manifesto at the Ateneo de Madrid for repairing an old injustice, make a story manipulated fight against forgetting, ultimately repay a moral debt that English democracy is still in Spain who advocated a tolerant, peaceful , cultured and caring .
can not understand in today's Spain that while the Prince of Asturias Foundation awards a prize Oviedo harmony to the Holocaust Museum a couple of years or La Jonquera opens a museum in memory of the English placed in the concentration camp of Argelès, the mayor of Alicante continue deferring into the monument called Los Almendros. Of course, neither can understand the existing law of historical memory, another mayor's Party, the latter of Salamanca , keep Francisco Franco as mayor after the city, with his effigy carved in stone on the baroque arches of the Plaza Mayor, and refuses to rehabilitate Unamuno as a Republican councilman. What these people wounded speaks when it comes to memory that reopens?. The only injuries in a democracy that claims are to continue paying awards to those who fought and forgotten its defenders. Wound is to consider that in the Field of Almendros was planted a year ago a flowering almond tree, in the absence of the memorial claimed, and the next day appeared uprooted with the signing of a swastika banner of barbarism.

Do Herpes Spots Go Away

A Miguel Gutierrez, Miguel Ríos

A Miguel Gutierrez, historical memory

Last Friday there was a tribute to the worker's right as he liked to call himself, Miguel Gutierrez Carbonell, offered by colleagues, lawyers and especially friends. However, since the same Friday and although I went and got excited and all his family, I pursued the unacknowledged uneasiness of a compromise failed. I have a debt to Michael that ho have settled and their sly expression in the photographs illustrating the paper built in tribute to his friends, has brought me to mind. My
Debt is old but not too much, goes back to just one and a half ago, when drafting an obituary affective memory should be dismissed Unquera Professor of Archaeology, who had died unexpected and premature. To Riccardo Francovich, as for a whole generation of Italian intellectuals born immediately after World War II, the 2nd English Republic and his defeat of fascism was a myth of progress truncated, in which thousands of people were left to their fate - "the best of Spain" - in the words of Max Aub, at the Port of Alicante, the last bastion of the besieged Republic precisely occupied by Italian forces, symbolized better than anything the powerful magnitude of the defeat and the terrible disaster that loomed over Europe, therefore, continued with passion Riccardo our discussion of historical memory.
In this farewell alluded to the chance of accidental death would have occurred, the 68 anniversary of the entry in the city of Littorio division and civil farewell in Florence coincided with another civic event held in Alicante, in memory of men and women Republicans caught in the harbor, were taken to a makeshift camp in a nearby almond terraces, and in which Michael himself as a member of the Civic Commission for Recovery Historical Memory spoke. While preparing this text I called Miguel to inquire some information related to these tragic events and although I was in a hurry were provided in full, with the prodigality of his characteristic word, putting the only condition send him the letter. So I did and days later he called to tell me he had moved and confession of step with age became increasingly sensitive to surveys issued by the heart, which he attributed to old age and I to his bonhomie. We joke and I promised that I would make a similar farewell, not knowing that soon and equally unexpected way, also Miguel would be required by their peers to the "winged souls of the almond cream."
This is my debt, not dismissed as frivolous made that promise, not even when we offered the opportunity to participate in this last tribute, which I thought was for his sons and his colleagues in the judiciary and ideas to speak. But the fact is that Michael did not feel like forgiving me I wanted to pay down debt and openly with these lines that are not, though it may seem, a tribute to his memory but because of it.
Prepositions are not insignificant and this "for" refers to the vindication of the memory Historical why he, along with others, and others, fought until the very day of his death. No talk of spending bills or exercise revenge, but something as simple as a memory rescue force silenced. In these times when my job as historian on earth has been made available by the story-not usually built from a distance of textual documents and materials, but those near and terrible that flow from the right of the living to remember its dead - our picks and brushes to unearth the remnants of a painful for next race, I come findings to the head of Miguel Hernández verses dedicated to his dead friend and accompanying Miguel Gutierrez also in last Friday's tribute:
"I dig the earth with their teeth, / I want to break the land part / a part of bites dry and hot / I want to mine the earth to find / and kiss your noble skull / and desamordazarte and bring you back. "
Because that is, to desamordazar and return, not only dead but his memory of the right to know and remember. Miguel, on behalf of the Civic Commission, claiming only an urban space and desamordazara memory returns in the form of a fleet of winged almond cream. He died without success and all the tributes that have sele not supply the we expect and that is not really a tribute to him, but the memory of all men and women who lost the life-or silence-their right to think what they thought. I've already cumplidomi indebted to my uncle Miguel writing farewell promised. Our City Council has yet to fulfill his own, convinced that their democratic nature makes him a direct heir of that freedom of thought which was then silenced. The opposite means more than not keeping its debt to all citizens of Alicante, take unjustifiable continuity with those who ended democracy in the field of almond trees.

A step out of oblivion

12/01/2009
JOURNAL INFORMATION
SIXTY YEARS AFTER THE HOLOCAUST
A step out of oblivion
The Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory seek to Alicante children who died in Nazi concentration camps to benefit from French government compensation
A. PRADO
direct descendants of the English who died in Nazi concentration camps are entitled to compensation that the French Government decided to grant a few years ago those orphans English Republican refugees who were deported from France under German occupation to the death camps. Given the general ignorance of this initiative, some civic organizations recovery of historical memory have begun to worry about providing information to families who can benefit from this aid, as is the case as provided in Murcia and Alicante to the commission.
Of the nearly 7,500 English who were transferred to Mauthausen concentration camp and subfields like Gusen, considered the gateway to hell, more than 5,000 died in their facilities. Of those, at least 113 were Republicans in the province of Alicante, at a ratio of deaths of the Centre d'Estudis d'Investigació Baix Historical Maestrat / Montsià (CEIBM), who manage groups dedicated to historical memory.
From this list, the Civic Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory of Alicante is interested in addressing this issue and plans to try to locate relatives of the deceased to provide information about the compensation offered the French Government. Manuel Parra, a member of this group in Alicante said that "we will work this issue to try to contact or to call family members to provide information and that can claim such compensation. "
Parra, who has already contacted the French Consulate, said that today will address this issue at a committee meeting, because" it appears that the documentation is complex, due certified through the International Red Cross, and is aimed at those who were under 18 years old when his father died in one of the fields. "
From the Consulate General of France in Madrid confirmed these data but did not specify the amount of compensation, noting that this entity is acting as an intermediary in the information and receiving requests, which refer the French Ministry of Defence for resolution. In Murcia, the Association of Friends of the Fallen for Liberty and has received a dozen requests from families of the dead, "but only in two cases are of children, which is required by the French Government, with the difficulty that it has since many of those who died there were young and had no offspring. "
In this region, the Government Office has offered to the association to assist in this task. The president of the association of Murcia, Floren Dimas, notes that this is a unique compensation set at 6,000 euros, and notes that the governments of Germany and Austria also created similar aid, "which is an official recognition of their status as victims, while the English government, however, not yet recognized as such, only quoted the preamble of the Law of Historical Memory, but the articulated in the talk of awards and repairs, does not get to talk more about it. "Meanwhile, the member of the Commission for the Recovery of Historical Memory Orihuela, Ginés Saura, who knows the list of deaths of CEIBM notes that even tried to contact some relatives in the Vega Baja without success.
Saura adds that the search for these families is an issue that we have outstanding and we want to return from the next few days we will celebrate on the field of concentration racer. "However, it noted that they are waiting for another match data listed in a book published by the Ministry English Culture on Nazi concentration camps, which is the ratio agotado.De CEIBM victims-all men and some with little more than 20 years, most died in the field of Gusen, under the Mauthausen central and 4 km away, where there was a high percentage of extermination. Of the nearly 5,000 English Republicans who lost their lives in this complex, which were sent republicanos the most part of the Spaniards, 80% falleció "the moridero" of Gusen.
